Fall 2003

  1. What are the major strategies in your plan?
    • Grade level teams will work together to identify an all-school writing prompt to utilize to develop greater consisency in evaluating writing samples of student work across grade levels and to establish grade level expectations in writing.
    • Grade level teams will meet regularly to analyze performance data, identify performance gaps and skill weaknesses, develop instructional timelines and strategies, develp/purchase support materials, implement instructional strategies to maximize student performance within target groups.
    • Grade level teams will participate in inservice training sessions to support and extend differtiations and writing strategies within each classroom?
    • Grade level teams will identify writing strategies to implement to assure increased performance in writing.

  3. Student Achievement Questions

    • Have we carefully correlated our grade level content/skils taught to the State standards?
    • What are the specific skill areas at each grade level we need to address to improve student performance for each target group?
    • What modifications to the teaching timelines of content and skills by grade level need to be made to assure instruction is completed prior to assessment windows?
    • How do we assure continuous progress for all students and target groups?
    • Have we determined what "writing strategies" is?
      1. Do we need to improve revising skills?
      2. Is there something we can do daily to address the issue "We think that DOL doesn't work"?
      3. What will work? (Mountain language arts?)

    Teacher Practice Questions

    • How can we increase student performance for identified students who are not performing at grade levels?
    • How can we increase student performance for those students currently performing at or above grade level?
    • Which activities in our current plan need to be continued to support student achievement of the state standards?
    • Which teaching strategies are making a difference for students in achieving performance in reading and math?
    • What current teaching practices are being utilized for "at-risk" students in reading and math across grade levels?
