Lincoln School Plan 2003/04

Fall 2003

  1. What are the major strategies in your plan?
    • Writing/Language Arts

    • Schedule students into two teams per grade level to coordinate instruction, develop intervention plans, ensure communication with home and to motivate students.
    • Intervention Class for each grade level with the school's regular schedule.
    • Train Intervention class teachers in Success Maker and provide planning time to coordinate support materials and resources.
    • Implement language arts adoptions of Prentice Hall materials to support state standards curriculum in grades six to eight.
    • Implement 6 Trait Writing in all language arts classes.
    • ELL

    • Support English Language Learners and Redesignated ELL Learners with appropriate curriculum and highly qualified teachers.
    • Math

    • Advanced 6th grade students, as determined by the district matrix, will receive direct instruction to prepare them for an advanced math course in Fall 2004.
    • Differentiated Instruction

    • Support proficient and advanced students for success in classroom work that are demonstrating less than 2.0 GPA.
    • Test Taking Techniques

    • Support Hispanic students, as self-identified on district SASI information system in developing academic skills necessary to meet and/or exceed state standards.

    • Are the students below the 50th percentile as identified in the California Standards Test receiving interventions demonstrating improvement as measured by multiple measures?
    • Are the students that are identified as English Language Learners, or that are resdesignated from the ELL program into mainstream classes, demonstrating improvement as measure by multiple measures?
    • Are the students of excpetionally high math abilities (GATE/advanced) receiving direct instruction that will prepare them to participate in math classes delivering curriculum above the State standards for math?
    • Are the students identified as proficient by California Standards Tests and district multiple measures also demonstrating class work achievement at or above a 2.0 GPA?
    • Are the students that identify themselves as Hispanic on district forms demonstrating improvement as measured by multiple measures and specifically the California Standards Test?

    Teacher Practice Questions

    • Do teachers delivering the intervention classes have a common udnerstanding of the curriculum avaiiable to support student academic success including the use of the computer-based program Success Maker?
    • Do teachers have a common understanding of what implementation looks like in 6 Trait Writing classrooms?
    • Do all teachers have a common understanding of implementation of the Prentice Hall standards based curriculum looks like?
    • Do all language arts teachers use the Prentice Hall second language Learner materials consistently in core classes?
    • Do teachers have a common understanding of how to differentiate materials for advanced learners, strategic learners, intensive learners, ELL learners and redesignated ELL learners?
    • Do math teachers have a common understanding of how to identify advanced students that are able to work above the state standards in math curriculum for their grade level?
    • Do math teachers have a common understanding of what curriculum will be delivered to prepare students for advanced work above the state standards for each grade level 6-8?
    • Do teachers have have SASI information for self-identifying Hispanic students?
    • Do teachers have a common understanding of direct instruction in testing strategies and testing in the STAR testing format?
