Background: Each month we honor employees who have above and beyond. This month we honor:Jill Potratz, Speech Therapist at Otis Elementary In addition a team of Lincoln employees were recognized: Myrna Graulic, Counselor, Dorine Montez, Office Manager, and Brittany Rysman..

2.) Highlighting Alameda Schools: Franklin Elementary

Background: Franklin School presented an overview of the academic program.

3.) Alameda Education Foundation Report of Distribution of Funds

Background: The Alameda Education Foundation made a presentation of $15,000 in checks for the school sites.

4.) Teacher of the Year 2011/12 Kickoff

Background: Individuals can submit applications through mid February.

5.) Approval of Resolution #11-0002 Intent to Reduce Special Education Paraprofessional

Background: One hour for a paraprofessional will be reduced.

6.) Approval of Resolution #11-0003 Amending the Guidelines for Operation of the Alameda Unified School District's Surplus Real Property Advisory Committee

Background: The Tidelands Property will be removed from the scope of work for the Surplus Real Property Advisory Committee.

7.) Budget Calendar for 2011/12

Background: The Board accepted the budget time line for the development of the 2011/12 budget.

8.) Public Hearing: Bay Area School of Enterprise (BASE) Charter Renewal

Background: BASE presented an overview of their accomplishments over the past five years. Staff will provided their recommendation on the renewal of the BASE charter extension at the January 25 BOE meeting.

9.)  Resolution #11-0004 to Amend NEA Charter to Extend Term from 3 to 5 years

Background: Nea submitted a request to extend their charter term from 3 to 5 years.

Fiscal Implications: None.

10.) Public Hearing: Waiver of February 1 School Accountability Report Card Deadline

Background: Due to problems with the State CALPADs, the school accountability report card will require significant manual data entry. It is possible the staff can not complete their work by February 1st. Staff is recommending requesting a waiver.

11.) Appointment of Board Representative to the Alameda Collaborative for Children, Youth and Families

Background: Niel Tam was appointed to the school board representative to the Collaborative.
