The initial pulling and filing of candidate papers and assignment of ballot positions created a large field for the the local School Board and City Council races. The League of Women Voters sponsored local forums. The local media and organizations provided news coverage. The Voter Information Pamphlet contained the School Board Candidates Statements. Local papers and organizations published their endorsements of candidates. Voters referred to an article How to Choose a School Board Candidate. The voters then selected three School Board members and two City Council members.

In addition, with 57% YES voter approval Measure F removed all references to Board of Education from City Charter, effectively eliminating term limits for School Board members.

In the aftermath of electoral college vote, the topic how to make California a player in the presidental elections was discussed in this editorial.
