2003 Superintendent's Education Advisory Committee (SEAC)

There are 11 voting members of the Superintendent's Education Advisory Committee (SEAC). Five of the members are appointed by the Board of Education (one per Trustee), one from each of four employee's groups, PTA Council President and District Administration representative.

For background information on why SEAC was convened, see 2002/03 California Budget Crisis.

On March 13, there was an one hour orientation meeting for new SEAC participants.

The SEAC committee made a progress report at the March 25th Board of Education meeting.

There was a town hall type meeting on Thursday, March 27th at 7:30 pm in the Alameda High School cafeteria. The well attended event featured two main groups of speakers supporting the JROTC program and middle school electives.

The SEAC committee will meet on Monday, March 31, to finalize their recommendations to the Supeintendent. With this input from SEAC, the Superintendent will finalize his recommendations to the Board of Education. The first public disclosure of the 2003 SEAC's recommendations was at a Board of Education workshop on April 3rd at Wood Middle School.
