Employees of the Month Background: Each month we honor employees recognized for their efforts on behalf of Alameda children. This month we honor Alysee Castro, principal, Island High School and the fourth grade teaching team at Amelia Earhart school. Fiscal Implications: None. 2.) Highlighting Alameda Schools: Lincoln Middle School Background: Lincoln Middle School presented an overview of their academic program. Fiscal Implications: None 3.) Season of Nonviolence Daily Reading Background: Staff will read the daily topic from the Season of Nonviolence materials. Fiscal Implications: None 4.) Adoption of the Second Interim Financial Report for 2010/11 Background: Staff presented a review of the second interim financial report. The Board approved it. Fiscal Implications: None 5.) Approval of Resolution 11-0115 to Increase Fund 17 Reserve for Economic Uncertainity Background: In order to better to account for contingency related to uncertain State budget funding, staff recommended the increase of Fund 17. Fiscal Implications:None 6.) Evaluation of Math Initiative Background: Staff presented a comprehensive review of the implementation of math initiative in partnership with Alameda County of Education. Fiscal Implications:None 7.) Measure A Election Results Background: Initial returns from Measure A were 66.4%. Given these numbers were absentee voters, it is highly likely the parcel tax will pass. Two days later the results were finalized with Measure A receiving 68.0% Yes votes. Fiscal Implications:An additional $5 million in 2011/12 with $12 million for another six years.
