Alameda Voter Profile 2004
Democrats still hold the majority in the nine-county Bay Area, but that majority is slipping, from 52.7 percent in 1999 to just 50.1 percent today.
Alameda ranks 32nd in the 109 Bay Area cities in terms of percentage of voters who are Democrats. That equates to 19,641 registered Democrats on the Island. Richmond ranks number one and Atherton is last in percentage of Democratic voters in the Bay Area.
Of registered Republicans, Alameda is 83rd among the 109 cities, with Atherton on the top and Berkeley with the fewest GOP members. Alameda boasts 21.4 percent Republicans, a total of 8,032 on the Island.
The Green Party ranks Alameda high among other cities; Alameda is 27th in Bay Area cities with 2 percent of registered voters choosing the Green affiliation. There are 752 voters registered as Green on the Island.
Bay Area has 1,118,755 people who are eligible to vote but have not registered to do so. Statewide, 6,411,007 eligible Californians are not registered to vote.
