Potential Costs of AEA Initial Contract ProposalsProposals submitted between September, 2003 and December, 2003 as costed by District personnel
UPDATEClass Size Removed from Negotiations At the February 3rd negotiations session, a tentative agreement was reached leaving Article 9 language status quo. As a result, the potential costs of $1,500,000+ has been removed. AEA Disputes DIstrict Estimates of Proposal Costs At a March negotiations session, AEA presented a worksheet showing that the District cost estimate of health care costs of $2,600,000 was grossly overstated. The District applied the difference between the current cap and lowest family rate coverage to all 630+ teachers. AEA is contending that their proposal is not applicable to all teachers since most teachers do not have families to cover. They are indicating their estimate is only $900,000.
Here is the language from the AEA proposal: Future negotiations session will determine how the language is meant to be applied. From March 10th update on AEA Core Action Team Website, AEA's indicates their proposals would cost the District $2,200,000. Back to Negotiations Home Page
