Article 5 LeavesWording to allow the use of sick leave for Famliy Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and the California Family Right Acts (CFRA) for family illness not otherwise covered under FMLA and CFRA. Article 8 Teaching HoursThis article received the most attention of the negotiations teams. The entire article has been rewritten so the best way to determine the changes will be to compare the prior article from the old contract to the new contract. In the interim, here is a summary of the highlights:
Article 13 SafetyA sub committee is updating this article is expected to complete its work by the end of 2004. Article 17 Peer CoachingThe mentor teacher program (which in now expired) is replaced with Peer Coaching language. There six sections of language. Article 27 Special EducationA sub committee of three teachers and three administrators will develop recommendations for changes to this article. Article 28 Peer Assistance ReviewIn future years, teachers will be paid hourly for hours worked not to exceed 35 hours per person per year.
