1.) Highlighting Alameda Schools - Franklin School

Background: The staff presented an overview of the academic accomplishments of their school.

Fiscal Implications: None.

2. State Budget Update

Background: Staff  recapped the impact of the trigger cuts imposed on school budgets as a result of state revenue shortfalls. AUSD will lose approximately $300,000 in revenues.

3.) Discussion of Employee Salary Schedules

Background: Staff presented a review of the employee salary schedules used for all employees in the District.

4.) Teacher of the Year Launch

Background: Staff presented the timeline for the selection of 2012 teacher of the year. Niel Tam is representing the school board on the committee.

5.) Recommendation to Implement Magnet and Innovative Programs

Background: Staff presented the recommendation for the five proposals submitted in 2011. Staff's review of the five proposal indicated four proposals could be approved.

Fiscal Implications: None.

6.) Order of Business

Background: To allow student related presentations to happen as soon as possible, there is proposal to move this items prior to public comment.

7.) Alameda Education Association Openers for new Three Year Contract

Background: The Alameda Education Association presented the openers for a new three year contract. The Association opened 26 of 29 articles in the contract and also proposed a new article named Academic Freedom.

Fiscal Implications: TBD.

8.) Alameda Unified School District Openers for new Three Year Contract

Background: The Alameda Unified School District presented the openers for a new three year contract. The Association opened 26 of 29 articles in the contract and also proposed a new article named Academic Freedom.
