1.) Highlighting Alameda Unified Schools: Alameda Science & Technology Institute (ASTI)

Background: In its eighth year, ASTI is an early college high school located on the College of Alameda. Staff presented a report on their accomplishments of its programs and its students.

Fiscal Implications: None.

2.) Measure A Oversight Committee Selection Process Overview

Background: With the passage of Measure A, the Superintendent needs to fill the Measure A Oversight Committee with up to 11 members. Staff made a presentation on the progress of implementing Measure A.

3.) Update on Online Agenda Pilot

Background: Staff presented a report on a pilot of new online agenda program that will be tested in October.

Fiscal Implications: None at this time

4.)  Principles of Data Presentation

Background: Staff shared the principles they will use in presenting data used in various Board meetings.

Fiscal Implications: None.

5.) Back to School Preparation Update

Background: Staff presented an update on preparations for back to school from Human Resources, Facilities and Student Services.

Fiscal Implications: None.

6.) Approval of Superintendent Contract

Background: A new four year contract was presented. The new contract payment for health care benefits and up to a $15,000 bonus for goals established annually. The Board voted 3 to 2 to approve the contract. McMahon and Spencer voted no. McMahon voted no indicating the District can not give employees raises until state funding returns to 2007/08 levels.

Fiscal Implications: Approximately up to $25,000 annually.

7.) Approval of Resolution To Approve Results from Measure A Election

Background: The County Assessor needs the minutes of Alameda Unified to reflect approving the election results from the Registrar of Voters..
