CES Resource DirectorySource: Coalition of Essential Schools IntroIn this era of high stakes testing and legislative driven education reform, the education community is struggling to serve all of its stakeholders. As a result, school sites find themselves being caught in constant tug of war between internal (school district level) and external (state/federal) reform efforts. To address this problem in Alameda, we have adopted a Strategic Plan for 2003-2008 that attempts to integrate external drivers with local conditions. In order to accomplish the objectives of strategic plan, we need all levels of the organization to adopt a new learning process while leading the change process. The primary document where implementation of the strategic plan and the change process intersect is the Single School Plan. While Alameda is using the practices of the Bay Area School Reform Collaborative, it is important to review resources from other reform efforts. The Coalition of Essential Schools (CES) has 20 years of educational reform experience. CES Common Principles - emphasizing equity, personalization, and intellectual vibrancy are embodied in the vision for Alameda. CES has extensive number of practices they have documented.
