Highlighting Alameda Unified Schools: Lum Elementary School Background: Staff presented a report on their 2010/11 accomplishments of its programs and its students. Fiscal Implications: None. 2. Recognition of Employees with 20 or more Years of Service Background: Employees with 20, 25, 30 and 35 years of service were recognized. Fiscal Implications: None 3.) State of the District: API,AYP and CAHSEE Results Background: Staff presented a report on the achievement results from spring time testing. Fiscal Implications: None at this time 4.) Summer School Report Background: Staff shared the results of the summer school program. Fiscal Implications: None. 5.) 5 Day Enrollment Report Background: Staff presented an update on enrollment across the district. Fiscal Implications: None. 6.) Approval of Unaudited Actuals Background: Staff presented a summary of the unaudited actuals. Fiscal Implications: None. 7.) Approval of Miscellaneous Policies Background: Most polices are reviewed and approved by a Policy Subcommittee. Whenever there is question, the policy is referred to the entire Board. Two policies were reviewed. One policy on employee security and their ability to carry pepper spray was discussed. Four board member voted to not allow pepper spray on campus. The second policy dealt animals being bought on campus. It passed 5-0 after clarifications. Fiscal Implications: None 8.) Alternative Locations for Board Meetings Background: The City Council has been calling a number of special meetings causing the Board of Education meeting to be moved. The Board agreed the Alameda cafeteria will be the alternative location for regular meetings. Fiscal Implications: None. |
